2008/11/27 One Basketball MatchI don't play basketball, because I hurt my wrist when I was playing it in junior high. I thought it's a dangerous game. Then yesterday, I played it again with our team, mainly because it is an irresistible game after all, I have to admit. During the ten minutes I was on court, I made one shot!! Actually, two. The other one was said to be a fault. It was nice though... 2008/11/24 Shanghai SubwayIt's crowded, and it's obvious. I wanted to show how crowded it can be to people who don't have an idea of what crowd is. I took the pic, because I could not get on there. I don't know if this is true, but it's said the subway in Tokyo is so crowded that women got pregnant on there. It's only a joke, but here in Shanghai, it's not any better. Thank God I don't have to take the subway to work every morning, but surely I hate each time I had to take the subway to downtown... 2008/11/20 Ridiculous SuningHere is the thing: I bought Nokia 5320XM at Suning, one of the biggest home appliances retailer tycoons here in China, on Wednesday night, yet I found more than 5 bad dots on the screen that night after I went back home. So yesterday I went to Suning to swap it for another one. I was talking too much, I guess, so after 2 hours in the shop, I decided to go to People's Square, where the Nokia service center is located, to require the phone check proof, which was "required" by Suning. I spent 2 hours on the road. I thought after this things would have been done like quite fast. Once again, I was wrong. It was claimed that there were several procedures, and the worst thing was they don't have Nokia 5320 in the inventory. They looked for other Suning chain stores, and the result was the same. Yup, apparently, I won't be able to have my Nokia 5320 eventually. It SUCKS. So I paid 350 RMB for Nokia 5610XM at 8:30pm. Remember, I got there at 4:30pm-4 hours spent in the store, and I did not even get what I wanted. Whatever reason, time was wasted. I don't really know if the result would have been different if I was not angry when I first got there. Or the joke was on me-they just don't have another Nokia 5320 there, so whether they change it without the proof from Nokia or not, I won't be able to have another same new phone anyway. "Blame the financial crisis, which obviously takes a toll on Suning." Said one of the saleswomen. My point is, I don't need your alibi, Suning. I just want my thing to be done. That simple. So after a whole day on this, I finally took the Nokia 5610 back home, quite exhausted. I even told the manager that I had to take a half day leave...sigh... 2008/11/16 Random Saturday-Shanghai-Wuxi Pictures
2008/11/13 Layout ChangedThe reason for this change is because narrow rows are technically more comfortable for reading, and there are many good examples for this, such as The New York Times and lots of others. Perhaps I just need some time to get used this new layout, since I am the person who determines the change. And obviously, this is the biggest change since the birth of the blog. Head Pic ChangedIt's hard to find a good server providing pics with good qualities, and I was really looking for that kind of websites. MSN space provides this service, yet the pics will shrink, hence the quality is bad. In the end, I chose Flickr. The only concern is I am not sure about the band width-it says it has a limit. So I might as well just put this head pic there, so each month I don't have worry the head pic cannot be shown here...Let's see...So far, I like this simple design of the space here...high 5! 2008/11/10 WinterHonestly, I have to admit I did not get ready for the weather change at the first place, and that's why I think I got this cold on Sunday morning. It was just so dramatic that one minute it was hot, the next it was like freezing cold. Shanghai's weather is always the pain in the ass, and I never expect it to be mild. In order to keep myself safe throughout the winter, I went to the mall, where I lost my mobile phone two weeks ago, and I bought one rice cooker, along with some frozen dumplings and some frozen corn which can be stored in the fridge for a long time. So I cleaned the rice cooker, and tried the corn while watching "Desperate Housewives". It was nice, and the corn was exactly the same as that sold in KFC or McDonald's, which I like quite much. Also the rice cooker can potentially be the hot pot, when I get the meat and some vegetables next time. Another awesome thing is the landlord moved out a week ago, and another kid who is going to have a crucial exam in January moved in. Thank goodness the landlord is gone. After all, having seen the post on BBS revealing all his bad deeds and mean spirit, it would be quite embarrassing to see the people all the time who really despise him. Of course, I know he would have moved out a long time ago, as he "promised" before I moved in. Evil ones will never change who they are, and that's the basic law of the world. He might quite well come back and do the same sad thing again, I mean definitely. At least, what I can have now is the precious transient peace in the house. It seems to me moving out next year would be my best choice no matter what. I gained my experience this time. 2008/11/7 From Black To WhiteMy blog used to be in a black background, and then I changed it into dark green. But lately I had problems with the head logo, because none of the online servers can provide me with the picture quality I wanted. Since I just need to be as simple as possible, the background color is changed into no color-white. I don't know how long I am going to stick to this solution, hopefully this is the ultimate solution. Yet the other side of the story tells me at least I still like changing, which means I am not too old, I mean mentally. I still like listening to the latest singles from new artists, and I still like embracing new things which are the latest trend. So maybe I am still young...My older cousin sister used to tell me that she was so old when she was in her mid 20s, and I couldn't understand that, as she was in her golden years in my eyes. Now I kind of feel the same as she did. Lots things have proved that I am no longer as young as before, and that always gets me. I start to notice tips about how to have healthy food and things like how to live a healthy life which were always ignored when I was, maybe, 2 years younger. The other day, I downloaded a software which can calculate the time when I die, of course it's just for fun. After I input my birth time, the result said I would die in 2029. It sucks, because when I calculated my friends, none of them would die before 2070. The result may not be true, but sometimes when we look back, we are always shocked by how fast time can fly. I used to think time is really slow when I was 3 years old, making mud soldiers in the field or building hydraulic dams in the little creek outside the house with friends. Now I start to miss the time when I had to study till mid night, and time really flies. Maybe it will be more true when I get older, and I think the reason why we think time is fast is because we are getting number as we grow older-we are getting more and more used to the mechanism of the world. 2008/11/5 Places I Have Been ToChina is huge, and I thought I have been to lots of places. Yet after I input the names I have been to, I found there are still a lot more places than I thought I should visit!!! Places I want to go in China:
1. Tibet
2. Manchuria
3. Mongolia
4. Xinjiang
5. Guangzhou & Hong Kong
6. Taiwan 2008/11/4 Update Patches"I should read more", and I agree with that too. Anyway, yesterday was a little bit on the edge-I was informed that I had to update my system, or I will suffer the consequences. So for a whole day, I was on the line asking the service center what I should do. In the end, I managed to escape the possibly catastrophic ending-reinstall the OS. Normally, it's said Windows OS should be reinstalled twice a year, for the sake of safety. I don't know if it's true or not, but I just don't do it, and I believe lots of others don't do this either. So after that crisis yesterday, I had to think about the backups. I don't want to lose all the games I have been playing, or the files I have been saving. It was my cousin sister's birthday yesterday, and I sent the email she wanted. We used to exchange presents when I was in college, and my birthday is ahead of hers. It was good, then I forgot how we stopped this "tradition". So this year, I seemed to pick up the old "tradition", and the only difference is it's digital! Wish her a good luck in the coming months, because I know it's critical for her. Mom called me last week, asking me how come I put the old pics here. I was not surprised to hear that this time, because I know she reads this space too. The only concern is changed now though-I am thinking if it's ok to have a Chinese version of the space, so that my family can read my updates too. I don't know yet. I don't feel like changing my space writing habit yet, and so far I am having fun with it... Maybe I will just stay the way it is... |
