Innocence

I emailed my manager and he is quite supportive, but still I feel a little bad, since I am always grateful to him for giving me the opportunity to work in this company and I hope to do more things here. I knew this decision could be hard, but it seems I haven’t prepared well enough-at least, I lost my track of time and now I am not in a favorable situation-I might quite well not be able to have enough time for my family and I feel awful. There are many things I wish I could re-do so that I could do better, but it seems currently I have to deal with what’s left here. They must think that my decision is quite sudden when I tell them, but I really do hope they can understand. It’s not so surprising as many of them might have felt something already. I admit I was innocent when I first got into the company but I learned a lot during the past one year. It’s going to be well remembered no matter where I go. I feel thankful because I was given the best opportunity to pursue what I believe is right for me; because I was lucky enough to have known some great people and to learn from them; because I got the chance to spend the most previous time of my life in the best company in the world.

Shanghai Innovative Factory 1933

IMG_0822

It used to be a slaughterhouse before 1949 and now it was rebuilt to an innovative factory with good cafes, restaurants and some cool exhibitions as well. It's more commercial now but it's worthwhile to see when you feel like having some time to kill. I have no idea what style this architecture is, but those poles on the front porch kind of set me back to 1930s, certainly with modern decoration inside. I like cool things like these, but my only problem is since this place is pretty new, it needs time to be filled with more cool stuff and more people.

I am sure after 1 year or 2 this innovative factory can be as popular as Xintiandi or something. Of course it's more arts and designs oriented. Our Sunday morning walk in there was quite relaxing and it gave me a strong feeling of western streets and shops. It's typical Shanghai.

It's on Shajing Road, beside the little creek (not Suzhou Creek) and it's not far from the Hailun Road subway station of line 8. I would recommend this to those who love designing things.

Shanghai Solar Eclipse

DSCN7150

It was full of cloud and there was no way that you could see the sun in this storm here in Shanghai today. It was quite disappointing that you could not see the sun vanish or feel the sudden coolness, but the fast switch between darkness and brightness was quite stunning and spectacular already. It was great to experience this one time and I am sure there will be more.

My New Hair Cut

I have been sick of the cheap hair cut downstairs, because those hairdressers do treat human beings as machines that are put on assembly lines. So after thinking about new hair cut places for some time, I decided to go to Tiffany’s for a trial. Not surprisingly, it turned out to be good, and I like it. ^_^ So after I grabbed the hairdresser’s name card, I walked out satisfactorily-I mean, it got to be worth the money I paid. Now let’s take a look. Whatever you say, I am not going to change my mind.

It’s been hot in Shanghai lately, and it’s not wise to be out in the sun. I pretty much would spend most of the time indoor for sure.

West Mountain

Heard of West Lake in Hangzhou? I am sure you did if you know China a little bit, but have you heard of West Mountain? Yes, it's seemingly familiar to you because it has a "west", but it's a small island in Suzhou in the center of the big Tai Lake. It's a good idea to go there for the team building, although this time the weather was very hot. We were supposed to buy peaches or waxberries from the local orchard directly, but it seems the they were too popular to await our arrival. So we just cruised the lake on day one and climbed the highest mountain on the island on day two. Although no matter how much sunscreen you put on, you still got burned somewhere on the skin which was exposed in the sun most of the day. I am quite satisfied with the food there-we had different kind of local fish, shrimps and some other local vegetables-all were well cooked. I think it would be a great place to go to when it's not so hot and steamy, especially staying there for a week would be quite relaxing if time allows. The lake is quite huge, and it looks endless beside the lake-no wonder it's the third biggest lake in China, with its size bigger than the entire area of great Shanghai. Maybe it was because of the hot weather, we scarcely saw anybody walking on the street. It was quite comfortable and chilling to drive on the road there, even for those who don't drive like me. I liked the winding road with one side of the mountain and the other of the lake. I am not sure if I would go back there again, but it's definitely a good resort for people who would like to have a getaway when it's not too hot or too cold. It takes 2 hours to drive to the island from Shanghai by the bye.

New Design

I have changed Live Profile to a simple link on the blog, because the whole profile box does not go well with the genral style of this blog. Also I have updated my guest map link.

So now I am pretty satisfied with the current design with a pain color and a simple layout which can satisfy different internet speed to view this blog. Of course it's aesthetically satifatory to me as well. Now it's also more mature and more informative. I have thought enough about this, and it's good now.

My New Watch

I have bought this Citizen watch for some time, because I thought it could bring me luck. But unfortunately, I was being superstitious, and this idea made me quite dependant and dumb.  So my lesson were learned and all I need to say is you are the only one whom you can depend on eventually.

It was quite dramatic yesterday, because we had the craziest shower this summer in Shanghai . The wind was so strong that people could barely walk. But it came fast and went away faster, leaving pools and ponds on the road everywhere after I had my second golf game and dinner. It was cool to play golf, although I heard golf players average IQ is the lowest in all the sports games players, with football players the highest IQ. How ironic is that! It must be a joke. It’s like a big slap on the face, thanks to our professional National male football players.

The dinner was nice and we had good conversations on the table. I am glad that I joined the team building with other team members in the last minute . Sometimes there would be really a surprise if you do something different. As long as I still feel young, I would be willing to be surprised and entertained.
